An ECG-based artificial intelligence model for assessment of sudden cardiac death risk

From the abstract: " Conventional ECG-based algorithms could contribute to sudden cardiac death (SCD) risk stratification but demonstrate moderate predictive capabilities. Deep learning (DL) models use the entire digital signal and could potentially improve predictive power. We aimed to train and validate a 12?lead ECG-based DL algorithm for SCD risk assessment. The DL model achieves an AUROC of 0.889 (95% CI 0.861–0.917) for the detection of SCD cases vs. controls in the internal held-out test dataset, and is successfully validated in external SCD cases with an AUROC of 0.820 (0.794–0.847). "

Personalized mood prediction from patterns of behavior collected with smartphones

From the abstract: "We report high-quality longitudinal validated assessments of depressive mood from computerized adaptive testing paired with continuous digital assessments of behavior from smartphone sensors for up to 40 weeks on 183 individuals experiencing mild to severe symptoms of depression. We apply a combination of cubic spline interpolation and idiographic models to generate individualized predictions of future mood from the digital behavioral phenotypes, achieving high prediction accuracy of depression severity up to three weeks in advance (R2 =?80%) and a 65.7% reduction in the prediction error. "

From the abstract: "We performed deep shotgun metagenomic sequencing of baseline fecal samples from a unique, richly annotated phase 2 trial cohort of patients with diverse rare cancers treated with combination ICB (n?=?106 discovery cohort). We demonstrate that strain-resolved microbial abundances improve machine learning predictions of ICB response and 12-month progression-free survival relative to models built using species-rank quantifications or comprehensive pretreatment clinical factors. "

Improving access to exome sequencing in a medically underserved population through the Texome Project

From the abstract: "The Texome Project is a 4-year study that reduces barriers to genomic testing for individuals from underserved and underrepresented populations. Participants with undiagnosed, rare diseases who have financial barriers to obtaining exome sequencing (ES) clinically are enrolled in the Texome Project. We highlight the Texome Project process and describe the outcomes of the first 60 ES results for study participants. Participants received a genetic evaluation, ES, and return of results at no cost. We summarize the psychosocial or medical implications of these genetic diagnoses. "
