Revolutionizing Cancer Research: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence in Digital Biobanking
C Frascarelli et al, J Per Med, September 2023

From the abstract: "As digital pathology and artificial intelligence (AI) have entered the precision medicine arena, biobanks are progressively transitioning from mere biorepositories to integrated computational databanks. Consequently, the application of AI and machine learning on these biobank datasets holds huge potential to profoundly impact cancer research. Methods. In this paper, we explore how AI and machine learning can respond to the digital evolution of biobanks with flexibility, solutions, and effective services. "

Targeted single-cell proteomic analysis identifies new liquid biopsy biomarkers associated with multiple myeloma
SM Setayesh et al, NPJ Prec Oncol September 18, 2023

From the abstract: "We analyzed ~87,000 cells from seven patient samples (bone marrow and peripheral blood) across the myeloma disease spectrum and utilized our multiplexed panel to characterize the expression of clinical markers for PC classification, additional potential therapeutic targets, and the tumor microenvironment cells. Our analysis showed BCMA, ICAM3 (CD50), CD221, and CS1 (SLAMF7) as the most abundantly expressed markers on PCs across all myeloma stages, with BCMA, ICAM3, and CD221 having significantly higher expression levels on disease versus precursor PCs. "

Barriers and facilitators to utilizing digital health technologies by healthcare professionals
I Junior et al, NPJDigital Medicine, September 18, 2023

From the abstract: "High-quality evidence suggested that infrastructure and technical barriers (Relative Frequency Occurrence [RFO] 6.4% [95% CI 2.9–14.1]), psychological and personal issues (RFO 5.3% [95% CI 2.2–12.7]), and concerns of increasing working hours or workload (RFO 3.9% [95% CI 1.5–10.1]) were common concerns reported by HPs. Likewise, high-quality evidence supports that training/educational programs, multisector incentives, and the perception of technology effectiveness facilitate the adoption of digital technologies by HPs.
