Clinical, Pathology, Genetic, and Molecular Features of Colorectal Tumors in Adolescents and Adults 25 Years or Younger.
de Voer Richarda M et al. Clinical gastroenterology and hepatology : the official clinical practice journal of the American Gastroenterological Association 2020 Jun

We found features of CRCs in adolescents or young adults to differ from those of patients older than 60 years. In 39% of patients a genetic tumor-risk syndrome was identified. This suggests new strategies for clinical management. Performing genetic analyses for every individual diagnosed with CRC at age 25 years or younger would aid in this optimization.

Genetic drug target validation using Mendelian randomisation
AF Schmidt et al, Nature Comms, June 26, 2020

Proteins are typically the proximal effectors of biological processes encoded in the genome. Moreover, proteins are the targets of most medicines, so mendelian randomization studies of drug targets are becoming a fundamental tool in drug development. To enable such studies, we introduce an analytical framework for evaluating the robustness of analyses.

NHGRI commemorates 20th anniversary of White House event announcing draft human genome sequence
NHGRI, June 26, 2020 Brand

The signature goal of the Human Genome Project (HGP) was to generate a sequence of the three billion letters (A, C, G and T) in the human DNA instruction book. The multidisciplinary, international consortium worked tirelessly towards this goal, recognizing the incredible resource it would provide for the biomedical research enterprise.

National Academies Offers Guidance to Decision-Makers on Evaluating COVID-19 Data
J Stephenson, JAMA Health Forum, June 25, 2020

An expert consultation says that decision-makers leading the response to COVID-19 should consider specific criteria when evaluating numbers of confirmed cases, hospitalizations, excess deaths, and other data to make COVID-19–related policy decisions, such as restricting or allowing public gatherings or mandating the wearing of face masks in public places.
