Redundant meta-analyses are common in genetic epidemiology.
Sigurdson Matthew et al. Journal of clinical epidemiology 2020 Jun

The massive growth in the publication of meta-analyses may cause redundancy and wasted efforts. We performed a meta-epidemiologic study to evaluate the extent of potential redundancy in published meta-analyses in genetic epidemiology.

Genetic Diversity and Genomic Epidemiology of SARS-COV-2 in Morocco
B Badaoui et al, BIORXIV, June 23, 2020

Detailed phylogenetic analysis of SARS-CoV-2 reveals latent capacity to bind human ACE2 receptor
E Britnell et al, BIORXIV, June 23, 2020

Molecular structure analyses suggest strategies to therapeutically target SARS-CoV-2
Y Zhang et al, Nature Communications, June 2020

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, scientists around the globe have been working resolutely to find therapies to treat patients and avert the spreading of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. In this commentary, we highlight some of the latest studies that provide atomic-resolution structural details imperative for the development of vaccines and antiviral therapeutics.

The composition and capacity of the clinical genetics workforce in high-income countries: a scoping review.
Dragojlovic Nick et al. Genetics in medicine : official journal of the American College of Medical Genetics 2020 Jun

Our results indicate that there is currently a shortage of genetics providers and that there is a lack of consensus about the appropriate boundaries between the scopes of practice for genetics and nongenetics providers. Results point to strategies that may be used to increase productivity and efficiency, including alternative service delivery models.

Distinct subtypes of polycystic ovary syndrome with novel genetic associations: An unsupervised, phenotypic clustering analysis.
Dapas Matthew et al. PLoS medicine 2020 Jun (6) e1003132

Our results suggest that there are distinct forms of PCOS that are associated with different underlying biological mechanisms. Women with PCOS may be poorly served by being grouped under a single diagnosis because PCOS subtypes may differ in responses to therapy and in long-term outcomes.

Hydroxyurea Dose Escalation for Sickle Cell Anemia in Sub-Saharan Africa
CC John et al, NEJM, June 25, 2020

Among children with sickle cell anemia in sub-Saharan Africa, hydroxyurea with dose escalation had superior clinical efficacy to that of fixed-dose hydroxyurea, with equivalent safety.
