Under the leadership of the US Surgeon General, USPHS has approximately 6800 commissioned officers, who span multiple categories of health service professionals and work for various agencies within the US Department of Health and Human Services. In addition to the US Air Force, US Army, US Navy, and US Department of Veterans Affairs, USPHS is recognized as an American Medical Association (AMA) Federal Services Member Organization and, therefore, holds a seat in the AMA House of Delegates (HOD). |
